So you’ll find him very different. Not just because he’s got long hair, but because of what he is and how shaky his soul is. That’s really the key to him in this one, that his power, which has always been seen as his psychic ability or great intelligence or whatever, really what I think it is empathy. That’s his greatest power. But he’s lost the ability to be able to empathize with other people, because it’s too painful for him. Why? Because he’s been given all of his own pain to deal with, by Erik and by, as we said, Raven as well. It’s not just the loss of Erik. It has a lot to do with Erik, a lot to do with his relationship with Erik and their love for each other, but it’s also equally as much to do with his love for Raven, and the fact that he was sort of abandoned at the end of the last movie by both of them. Not just abandoned, but horribly injured.

“Hey, dude! Hope you get better!” “We’re going to teleport the fuck out of here! Good luck dealing with the Russians and the Americans!” You know what I mean? “Guys?” There’s a really good cartoon YouTube, it was “How X-Men: First Class Should Have Ended.” At the end of it there’s a great bit where she’s like, “Sure, even though Charles is my brother and I spent my entire life with him, yeah, I’ll go with you, Erik, no problem!” Yeah. That’s exactly what the fuck I was thinking. There’s another great bit where she goes, “Beast! Mutant and proud!” And Beast goes, “I am covered in blue hair from head to toe. Nothing you say means anything to me. Nothing!”

И про совместную сцену с Патриком Стюартом хорошо сказал :-D

I certainly never thought that I’d be giving a very different performance to him to his face. Kind of going like, “Yo, what you got, man? Show me your big nose! We’ve got big noses together!” There’s like a profile shot with both our noses together. Conk to conk. I think he wins slightly, but they tell me that your nose grows with age, so by the time I’m his age I think I’ll be knocking the shit out of it in the nose wars.

Отрывок из интервью Саймона Кинберга. Мы уже знаем, что в центре второго фильма будет молодой Чарльз Ксавьер. Немного подробностей:

James Mcavoy — X-Men: Days of Future Past to focus on Charles Xavier

by Bang Showbiz | 22 November 2013

'X-Men: Days of Future Past' will focus on James McAvoy's younger version of Charles Xavier as he strives to become his older, wiser self played by Patrick Stewart in earlier films.

'X-Men: Days of Future Past' will centre on young Charles Xavier.

While the blockbuster movie features a huge ensemble cast, including the cast of the original 'X-Men' trilogy and the stars of 2011 prequel 'X-Men: First Class', producers felt the film very much belonged to James McAvoy's character as he evolves into his older, wiser self - played by Sir Patrick Stewart in the earlier films.

Screenwriter Simon Kinberg said: ''One of the things we talked about a lot was, 'Whose movie is it?' Because as much as any ensemble movie is about all the main characters, there is a primary point of view or primary arc that you're tracking over the span of the film.

''For us, very early on, we made the decision that it was young Charles' arc and that, really, the emotional story of the movie is watching him go from the guy who's lost his legs, lost his best friend, lost his sister, and in some ways lost his mind, to a guy who will become the all powerful, benevolent Professor Xavier.''

The character is expected to be in a very dark place at the start of the new movie following the events of the 2011 movie.

Kinberg added: ''When you start the movie, McAvoy is really about as far as one can be from the Patrick Stewart that we know from 'X-Men'. We're really watching him take the first big step towards owning that chair and becoming a leader.''
